These past few weeks I’ve been settling nicely into California life. I’ve started my new job, moved into a new apartment, and received an overwhelmingly positive welcome from my new city. I’m overwhelmed with all there is to do and see here. I’ve only just begun exploring, but have highlighted some of my favorite adventures thus far below.
- Rancho State Reserve
A nice place to hike or run!
- Half Moon Bay
The Coastal Trail here makes for a great hike right along the ocean. It can get quite windy later in the day though.
- Wilder Ranch State Park
My favorite place to run thus far. You can’t beat the views!
- Big Basin Redwood State Park
I went on a wonderful 3.5 hour guided hike through the park, learning all about the ecosystem that exists there and the steps that have been taken to preserve it. If you’re in the area and looking for things to do, I’d highly recommend this park. Plus there are frequent guided hikes which can be found on the park’s park’s website. Hilltromper also lists upcoming outdoor activities in the general area.
- Natural Bridges State Park
Getting to see the Monarchs here was incredible. I’ve already been back several times!
- Cowell Beach
- Capitola Beach
- Twin Lakes State Beach
- New Brighton State Beach
- Natural Bridges State Beach
- Bay Area biking and Google Campus Visit
- Deer Hollow Farm
There are so many more places I want to explore and will continue to share as I go!
