At the beginning of May, I decided to challenge myself to log 10,000 steps each day. I’m happy to report that I hit that goal almost everyday. A handful of days I got close, but didn’t quite make it. The process made me much more aware of how much I was actually walking each day. If I wasn’t running, and just went to work, I had to make a conscious effort to log my steps. I usually accomplished this by going on an afternoon walk.
Now that it’s June I’m still trying to log 10,000 steps per day, and I’ve also started a daily squat challenge. My goal is to do 50 squats a day. As a runner having strong gluteal muscles is extremely important, however I often neglect mine. Squatting everyday is a good way to increase strength without having to set aside time for an hour long leg workout (though I should still do that too).
In May I also constructed two bean trellises for some pole beans I had growing. The trellises have held up, and the beans are extremely happy. I’ve just been starting to harvest the purple pole beans. They taste similar to a string bean, but the color is beautiful!
My cucumbers seem to be doing well on the trellis too, and even have some flowers.
